Speak Up! Poetry Competition

27th March 2017
Today, Ms Carpenter accompanied Charlie, Eliza, Johnny & Sarah to GSAL for a day's poetry workshop and performance. The workshop was led by Khadija Ibrahim from Leeds Young Authors and supported by Raheema Robinson. In total, 7 schools took part: Beeston Hill St Luke's, Carr Manor, GSAL, Richmond House, St Chad's, Swarcliffe and Westgate. The children worked fantastically well a a team, composing and performing a poem on the theme of Leeds' bid to be 2023 European Capital of Culture, called 'City of Hope'. In the evening we were joined by parents and family members who watch all the groups perform their own compositions and one of two published poems, in the Drama Studio at GSAL.
