Tour de France T-Shirt Triumphs!

27th June 2014
Children at Westgate were invited to take part in two separate T-shirt competitions to celebrate the Tour de France coming to Otley. They were invited to design a T-shirt to commemorate this special occasion and both competitions were open to children from all the primary schools in the town.

The first competition was run by Otley Town Council and we were delighted that the overall winner for the town was George in Y4! Not only that, 2 of the 3 runners-up were also Westgate children: Ellora in Y6 and Ben in Y4.

The second competition was organised by Otley Methodist Church. This time, Ben in Y4 was overall winner! Tilly in Y1, and Molly H in Y5 were also judged best in their age category for our school.

Both George and Ben have had their designs put onto a T-shirt. Ben was presented with his prize by Lizzie Armitstead's mother, Carole, while George was presented with his by John Eveleigh, leader of Otley Town Council, Jason Knowles, community officer, and Mark Curry, local film-maker.

We are so proud of our budding designers. You can see them being presented with their prizes in the photographs below.
