Easter Concert 2019

27th March 2019
Today our school musicians performed in our annual Easter concert for parents. Children from Y2 to Y6 performed in small groups and as part of our school ensembles, choir and orchestra, from our newest learners to our most experienced musicians.
At Westgate, children can learn a range of musical instruments. Beginning with Recorder Club in Y2/3 with Mrs Ireland and Ms Carpenter, as they move into Key Stage 2 they have a choice of peripatetic music lessons on flute, oboe, clarinet, violin, cello, cornet and guitar. Once they have reached a basic standard of proficiency, children are then invited to join our school orchestra, led by our specialist music teacher, Mrs Durrant. Ms Carpenter also leads choir for KS2 pupils.
A huge thank you to our peripatetic teachers, Mrs Huby, Ms Kellett, Ms Kenwood, Mr Novell and Mr Rossiter, and to Mrs Durrant and Mrs Ireland, for their expertise in preparing children so well for the concert today.
