Otley Carnival 2015: More than 101 Dalmatians!

20th June 2015
Once again, Westgate's turnout was by far the largest of any school in this year's carnival, showing a fantastic level of commitment from the whole school community. Friends of Westgate, led by Steph Wood, put together a fantastic walking float based on the theme of 101 Dalmatians. Let's hope nobody was counting however, as it was around 160 dalmatians in actual fact, shepherded by henchmen and led by Cruella de Vil driving a fantastic red Rolls Royce created by Jim Ibbetson. Huge thanks to everyone involved- in the face of stiff competition, we were awarded third prize in our category!
UPDATE: After all the votes were counted, we were delighted to hear that we have been awarded the Keith Wilkinson Trophy for the People's Choice Award, as voted for by members of the public on the day of the carnival. Well done everyone! Livia in Y3, whose original idea the theme was, went to the Carnival Committee AGM on July 17th to accept the trophy in school's behalf.
