Harrogate Orchestral Day

Today, 14 musicians from KS2 joined children from 12 schools in Leeds and North Yorkshire for a day of orchestral rehearsal and music-making, culminating in a concert for parents and carers. Over the course of the day, they learned a number of new pieces, before performing as part of an 80 piece orchestra in front of an audience.
the orchestra was made up of children from: Bramhope Primary School; Burton Leonard CE Primary School; Cundall Manor School; Harrogate Ladies College; Highfield Prep School; Richmond House School; Ripley CE Primary School; Spofforth CE Primary School; Wakefield Girls High School; Westgate Primary School; Westfield House School; and Willow Tree School. They played the following programme:
String ensemble: Creatures Suite (Soldier Ants, Hippos, Kangaroos)
Wind and Brass ensemble: James Bond theme; Let Me Entertain You
Full Orchestra: Tango and Cha Cha; The Medallion Calls
Well done to Amelie, Elsie, Elspeth, Eva, Georgia, Holly, Iseabail, Isha, Lizzie, Lizzy, Niamh, Roderick, Ross and Rowan for the way they represented Westgate with their musicality, good manners and friendliness towards all the children they met today.
