Orchestra Day at Harrogate Ladies College

27th April 2017
Today, Ms Carpenter accompanied 7 children (Carys, Charlie, Demi, Isobel, Livia, Rosie and Skye) to an Orchestral Day at Harrogate Ladies' College. The children joined around 70 children from 14 schools across Harrogate to rehearse and perform for parents and carers. The day started with sectional rehearsals (woodwind and brass in one rehearsal, strings in another) and culminated in a joint rehearsal followed by a performance for parents and carers. The programme they performed was as follows:
Woodwind & Brass: Doctor Who theme music
Strings: The Piper of Dundee
Strings: African Adventure
Woodwind & Brass: Rolling in the Deep
Tutti (All): Opening of Beethoven's 5th Symphony
The children showed great musicianship and musicality during the day, not to mention perseverance and a strong work ethic! And as ever, their behaviour and manners were a credit to our school. Thank you to HLC for our invitation, and well done to all of our pupils who took part.
