Teaching Assistant L1 or L2

TEACHING ASSISTANT LEVEL 1* A1/ B1 / LEVEL 2* dependent on experience

Required from 4th November or as soon as possible thereafter

  • 4 days per week TA level 1 or level 2 term-time only KS1/ EYFS, 08:35- 15:15

Here at Westgate our mission statement ‘Striving for Excellence, Caring for Children’ is at the heart of everything we do. We have a vacancy for a teaching assistant to join our hard-working, happy and supportive staff.

This post could be a level 1 post, with support for training to achieve a relevant NVQ3 qualification through the apprenticeship levy, for someone new to this role or with limited experience.

For someone with full and relevant experience, this could be a level 2 post.

In common with schools nationally, there has been a significant increase in the number of children receiving funding for a range of SEND across EYFS and Key Stage 1 and this post fits within our strong team in Reception- Y2 to meet a wide range of needs.

The successful candidate(s) will:

  • Be a team player who is committed to the aims and ethos of our school
  • Have some experience of working with children in Early Years and/ or KS1 in the first instance
  • Have an awareness of issues relating to pragmatics difficulties
  • Be flexible and confident in supporting children’s learning in a primary school setting
  • Have a positive, consistent approach to behaviour management
  • Be able to work under supervision and also use their own initiative
  • Have an understanding of the Early Years Foundation Stage/ KS1 curriculum
  • Have a good level of skill in maths, English and IT

Appropriate training and support will be provided to the successful candidate. There may be the opportunity to pick up additional hours over lunch time or at out of school club, if this is of interest.
